Abstract

Education is the prime needs of the humanity since the origin of this world. An educated society is the sign of social advancement which has a vast impact upon the economic development. In this regard, the educational status of an individual and the society as a whole is a prime obligation of the state that plans, legislates, finances, facilitates and even looks after all the proceedings. In the developing countries like Pakistan, the education sector has been persistently neglected rather ignored in all respects. The political unpredictability, inadequate budgetary allocation, rampant corruption, favoritism, short sighted policies and last but not the least is the absence of political will and decision on the part of the leadership/high ups are the main reasons behind the above said phenomenon. In Pakistan, the education sector has remained the victim of inattention on the part of all those who are responsible for the matters pertaining with this sector. The status of the education sector is one of the significant indicators of the social development as it places a very important role in building a health society leading a sound mind and ultimately a stable economy. In this regard, the academic achievements of the students play an important role in the above said phenomenon.
